Tip: Before Brainwaving – go pee!

December 2, 2007

Might sound stupid – but it is something many people take weeks to realize. A friend of mine even thought she had some bladder infection or worse…

The processes triggered by many brainwave sessions activate the metabolism and cleansing in your cells and body. In addition, many sessions use background sounds like “white noise” or “pink noise”, waterfalls, rain, ocean surfs, etc. – the result is predictable.

So even if you feel no immediate urge: use the toilet before you sit/lay down for a meditation session with brainwave support. There is nothing more distracting than that certain feeling of having to pee urgently…

And if you use brainwave entrainment to fall asleep or shortly before: don’t be astonished if you have to get up and go to the bathroom once or twice each night, even if you normally do not have to get up. There is nothing wrong – your body is just working more and better than usual and gets rid of a lot of stuff…

On a side note: it is also a good idea to drink a glass of water before every session! The increased brain activity and blood circulation might otherwise cause a stong feeling of thirst – and this is almost as distracting as the opposite…

Have good undisturbed sessions and be well! :)

Turn. Down. The Volume.

November 27, 2007

Heheh – just had to experience it myself again: a lot of people new to “brainwave stuff” make the mistake to listen to the sessions WAY too loud.

Why is that no good?

Two reasons:

1. If you “hammer” the binaural beats and the carrier tones into your ears and brain, you just get a headache. Or tinnitus. Or something. And no meditative states at all. Size/volume does not matter in that case – actually it is counterproductive.

2. If you use a guided meditation, are deep in trance, and there is a pause in the vocal track, the sudden assault of the voice after the pause can have a really unpleasant startling effect “Whoohooo???!? WTF? Who am I, where am I, and WHY the f*** is this voice so frigging loud and WHERE the heck does it come from???”.

So: better turn down the volume. Way more healthy and effective.

Most sessions can be listened to at a level where the voice can JUST be understood, more like a whisper. Your senses will be more alert during meditation anyways, so you probably won’t miss a thing.

I wish you pleasant meditations without any shock effects! ;-)
